A new video advertises the world’s first conceptual Artificial Womb Facility

The Ecto Lab is only a concept at this time. The concept, however, is groundbreaking. [i]

The Ecto Life facility is capable of incubating up to 30,000 lab-grown babies, each in a single baby pod. Al-Ghaili works with living organisms and is a science communicator who created the concept of the EctoLife brainchild. [i]

The EctoLife website describes the concept of a sci-fi-inspired facility. This facility will be able to replicate the exact conditions found within a woman’s uterus. While in the pod, babies are “sustainably maintained” using two separate central bioreactors. [vii]

The primary bioreactor “pumps nutrients, vital hormones, antibodies, growth factors, oxygen, and an amniotic-like liquid solution into the child. This is done through an artificial umbilical cord. The AI-controlled system allows each baby to receive customized nutrients based on their specific needs. [vii]

The secondary bioreactor intakes and recycles the babies’ waste products. The waste is released via the umbilical cord. [vii]

EctoLife is offering an Elite Package.

This package will allow parents to alter more than 300 different genes.

These genes will be altered prior to the implantation of the embryo into the artificial womb. Parents may utilize the CRISPR-Cas 9 gene editing tool to select various characteristics for their children. These characteristics include hair and eye color, height, intelligence level, and skin tone. [vii]

Introducing the EctoLife Artificial Womb Facility

The video suggests that the Artificial Womb Facility could enable infertile couples to experience the joy of parenthood. It would give them the opportunity to conceive a genetic child of their own. [ii]

The facility boasts being powered entirely by renewable energy. The video mentions women who may have had their uterus surgically removed due to cancer or other complications. It then presents EctoLife as a potential solution. [ii]

Al-Ghaili has even shared graphics indicating that 300,000 women die in childbirth annually, with many experiencing extreme premature births. EctoLife is presented as the safer way that “eliminates the need for c-sections.” [iii]

How is EctoLife designed to change the future of childbirth?

“EctoLife” is a concept that is promoted as the next stage of human evolution. It promises to make premature births a thing of the past. [iv]

The facility has 75 “highly equipped labs,” housing “up to 400 growth pods or artificial wombs.” The pods replicate the conditions that generally exist within a mother’s uterus, down to the umbilical cord. [iv]

The advertisement continues, stating that babies will be developed in an infection-free environment. The baby’s vital signs, such as heartbeat, temperature, and oxygen saturation, are monitored. [v]

Physical features are also monitored to report any genetic oddities. Real-time data is available on the developmental data of each baby via a phone app. [v]

The EctoLife growth pod also features internal speakers which play a wide range of music and words to each baby. The app allows individuals to choose what is played through the speakers.  [vi]

Despite what is presented as practical alternatives, many voiced skepticism regarding the artificial womb facilities.
