Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin is gracing headlines, again donating 25% of his salary. This time to Good News Second Chance Day, which seeks to “bring the gospel to inmates in over 350 jails and prisons worldwide.” Public data from The Council of State Governments indicates Governor Youngkin’s annual salary is $175,000. Youngkin’s donation check amounted to $43,750.

The Good News Jail & Prison Ministry provides “hope, resources, and transformational opportunities for Virginians. This administration continues to respect the law and those inside the criminal justice system with increased access to mental health services, best practices for trade skill acquisition, and by maintaining excellence in the restoration of rights process, among other priorities.”

Last year, Governor Youngkin donated his first-quarter salary to the Virginia Law Enforcement Assistance Program. The organization supports law enforcement officers and first responders who have undergone critical traumatic incidents in the line of duty or in their personal lives.

He followed this action by donating his second-quarter salary to the Virginia Veterans Services Foundation. The foundation provides supplemental funding for Veteran programs and services throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Governor Youngkin did not stop there, however! He continued by donating his third-quarter salary to G3 Community Services. The veteran-run organization provides student mentorship through Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM) activities and assists veterans transitioning from the military to the civilian workforce.

Finally, during the fourth quarter, the government announced he would donate his fourth-quarter salary to Pathways in Petersburg. Pathways, formerly Urban Ministries, provides workforce development training, life skills coaching, and financial education to participants from low-income backgrounds.
