In March, Russian soldiers “moved into the home of a resident, stole her phone and recorded their crimes on it.” After the home invasion and takeover, the victim realized that images of men in military uniforms that she was unfamiliar with had appeared in her cloud storage. [i]

The video below was shared by the head of the Kharkiv police. He suggested that “the Russian occupiers were most surprised by a bottle of alcohol with a scorpion and a snake inside.” The Russians recorded this video footage using a phone stolen from the home of the resident they had invaded. [ii]

In the video, the Russian soldiers can be seen drinking stolen alcohol and riding in the resident’s vehicle while blasting music. They are also seen posing in numerous photographs, particularly several with a scorpion and snake, allegedly from various bottles of alcohol. [iii]

Reports indicate that the Russians,

Broke down the door at the house, stole household appliances and clothes, including women’s underwear. And of course they stole the washing machine.” [iv]

The home resident “was abroad at the time,” and upon seeing the photos appear in her cloud storage of the soldiers, contacted the police. Reports indicate that “police managed to identify the occupants.” This incident is similar to an earlier occurrence during which,

A Russian occupier, who robbed one of the apartments in the city of Irpin, Kyiv oblast, took a selfie with a Polaroid camera and left the picture.” [v]

In that incident, authorities used artificial intelligence to recognize the suspect’s face. This assisted in identifying the culprit of the robbery. The photo had been taken with a Polaroid camera. The homeowner found the picture under a carpet in their home, and it was still completely black, not yet having been wholly developed. Once developed, the assailant in the Polaroid was identified as Nikita Tretyakov, a 26-year-old from Rostov-on-Don. [vi]
