Teen buys a DNA test kit

Utter chaos ensues once he receives the results that say his dad is likely his half-brother

A 19-year-old asked a question anonymously. The question was about the accuracy of a DNA test he had taken with his father. [i]

He wondered how it would affect their relationship. He asked the question in a public forum. [i]

The 23 and Me test results indicated they only shared 29.2% of their DNA. [i]

The 19-year-old pondered if the result was accurate. He questioned if it should be at 50% if his father were, in fact, his biological father. He wanted to know the forum’s opinion. [i]

The man says that he and his father chose to jump on the bandwagon of doing genetic tests and similar undertakings. After they received the test results, he went to the internet to seek advice and guidance on interpreting them. [ii]

It wasn’t until he posted his findings online that the sheer gravity of the situation became fully apparent to him – the realization of his ancestry hit him like a ton of bricks. He says he stormed downstairs to confront his mother without thinking. [ii]

The man’s mother had been trying to hide the truth about who his father was, but the man refused to keep it from him. His mother was so distraught that she broke down in tears and pleaded with him not to tell his father, but the man was adamant and walked away, leaving her behind. [iii]

They were arguing loudly, and it seemed as though the argument was getting more and more intense. His grandparents, who lived nearby, were alerted to the commotion and quickly came to the house to see what was going on. [iii]

He listened for the next few hours as his parents continued to argue. Further, the man’s grandparents tried to give their opinion and lessen the tension between his parents. He could tell that the situation was taking an emotional toll on his entire family, and he felt helpless as he heard it all happening outside his door. [iii]

His aunt-in-law and David arrived at the scene shortly after the altercation had begun, and he is certain he heard his Dad and David become involved in a physical altercation. [iii]

The situation quickly became utter chaos, with yelling and screaming echoing throughout the area.

People were running around in a state of confusion, and his Dad and David were at the center of it all, continuing to fight with each other. [iii]

The young man spoke in a voice that was filled with fear and uncertainty. He was so scared to venture outside that he had no idea what the consequences would be. All that filled the house was the sound of his mother’s occasional sobs, and he was certain that his father had already left. [ii]

He felt overwhelmed with despair and hopelessness and could only utter “F%$# my life” in response. [ii]

Eventually, he left his room to call his father, who was already at the hospital with his grandmother.

Sadly, the situation was too much for her, and she had a heart attack on the way home. [iii]

Upon arriving, he was relieved to find her in a stable state and then proceeded to sit down with his dad to chat. They both expressed that despite this event, their bond would remain unchanged. [iii]

The man’s mother had revealed to his father that she had been attacked by David while intoxicated but had kept quiet for fear of ruining his family. His father then proposed going to the authorities, to which she disagreed and began slightly deviating from her original story, making him suspicious. [iii]

Consequently, David and other people arrived, asserting that the woman’s assertions were untrue and that their sexual relations were consensual.

The man and his father are currently unable to decide who to trust, as the man’s father has always had positive relationships with the man’s mother and David. Due to the event happening after they were married, David’s wife is now seeking a divorce. [iii]

The man’s cousin is managing to stay strong, though she is still very disturbed by the situation. Seeking a solution, the man and his father have taken residence with his grandparents. [iii]
